Cancer touches almost everyone – patients, friends, and loved ones. More than 100 people
are diagnosed with cancer each week in Westchester County. Many cancer patients are
living with the disease as a chronic condition. Today's health care system often falls short in addressing the
ongoing physical, emotional, and financial needs of cancer patients and their families.
• Founded in 1978, Cancer Support Team (“CST”) is a nonprofit home-care program licensed
by the New York State Department of Health, that provides professional nursing education
and support, counseling, case management, and other cancer-related services (e.g.,
transportation to treatment appointments and financial assistance) to patients and family
members living in southern Westchester County. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life
of patients and families affected by cancer. By providing supportive services to oncology
patients and their families, we aim to reduce healthcare disparities and increase access to
essential health care services. Our interdisciplinary staff of nurses, case manager, and social
worker collaborates with a patient’s health care team and social service providers to ensure
that patients receive a continuum of care.
• CST is the only Westchester-based home-care program solely focused on cancer and
provides in-home services to those with cancer and their family members at any stage of the
disease, free of charge and without insurance coverage.
